What We Getting Into This Week #4
Okay, so I missed two weeks BUUUUUUT we got the new one at the top of this week! The Del Close Marathon returned this past weekend and it felt like a beautiful return to form. If you don’t know what DCM is, it’s an improv festival Upright Citizens Brigade NY hosts where shows are performed nonstop from Friday night till Sunday night. It’s where I truly committed to the improv life and I went to my first one at a huge transitional period of my life. I had to quit my day job to attend and began the journey that led to where I’m at today. So, to say I am sentimental about this festival, would be putting it… pretty accurately. Seeing a new generation of improvisers hitting that stage and getting to meet other out of towners was such a joy to see. I love comedy.
🎼Music
I had a friend put me on to a King Woman last week and I’ve been listening to them nonstop. King Woman is a solo project turned band by fellow pisces, Kristina Esfandiari who hails out of Northern California. The sound was described to me as grunge metal and I find it pretty accurate. If you fuck with Evanessence or Spirit Box this might be your jam for real!
Next up, Two Weeks by FKA Twigs. was stuck in my head after hearing it in a commercial. I listened to her whole discography in the best way someone with ADHD could. (Listening to the first 3 seconds of every one of her songs being totally sure I’ll be able to identify it.) After anywhere between 2 to 30 minutes, I gave up. Then it randomly played for me months later on my discovery playlist. Funny enough, even knowing the song, I cannot for the life of me find this commercial now. It’s not the Adam Driver Burberry ad and nothing is giving me other options. AskJeeves would’ve found it, but y’all not ready for that conversation.
🧩Hobby
Not even going to waste too much time talking about this. This is just my humble request that more of you get into Gundam TCG. It’s really fun and I got my buddy Daniel into the game, which made me realize there are like TEN different starter sets available now. If you love big robots, you gotta come battle it out!
I’m currently sitting in an airplane lounge waiting for my flight and I am so excited about this next run of shows! To everyone who has been coming out, I can’t thank you enough. Every comedy club has been blown away by y’all. I’ve been told by so many club managers that I have the best fans. Thank you for making me look awesome!
