What We Into This Week #1
Ah. A weekly article that can’t be gunked up by perfection. This is like everyone else’s weekly newsletter. I show and tell some dope shit I’ve been into, and then drop some info about upcoming shows to keep you in the loop. This was supposed to drop yesterday, but ya boi d was tired as hell when I got back on Sunday. Shout out to all the mothers, by the way! Here’s the worst Mother’s Day post of all time:

I had a comedy wrestling show Friday, hopped on a plane Saturday morning for my show at Rooster T Feathers in Sunnyvale, then hopped back on a plane the next day. I was spent. This week will be pretty chill for me, though. Not much on the docket besides a bunch of writing and playing Gundam Battle Operation 2. (More on that later.) Aight, let’s get into it.
🎼Music
I have this weird thing where I would get into a musical artist and focus solely on the album I’m aware of, instead of their whole discography. Which is why I’m having a huge rediscovery of Evanescence lately. Fallen went quadruple platinum in my household, but I haven’t listened to much of their other albums, so with Sanctuary dropping next month I’ve been deep diving. I’m still gonna recommend their newest joint, Who Will You Follow, though.
🎞️Movies
I’m behind on “must see” movies at the moment, but Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: Sorcery of Nymph Circe, the sequel to MSG Hathaway (2021) is dropping this week and I may or may not have been invited to an early screening. So hell yea, we’re always going to watch giant mechs throw down in space. I have to watch the first one tonight or tomorrow, but the most interesting part about this movie to me is that it’s based on a novel and not a manga. I’m planning on diving into the MSG literature soon. I’m interested in how the novels convey one of the most important aspects of the series, how cool the mobile suits look.

📺TV
I’ve been watching a few things lately. Recently, I’ve been watching Mobile Suit Gundam Zeta to fully ingest the Universal Century timeline shows. The order of these and which are essentially are currently being hotly debated on the MSG subreddit, but to not have Gundam absolutely dominate my newsletter, we’re going to talk about Breaking Bad. Em has seen all of Better Call Saul, but somehow avoided watching the masterpiece that is Breaking Bad. Since she had the joy of watching me experience The Sopranos for the first time, we traded and now I get to watch her experience one of the most stressful shows to binge watch. The show actually pairs really well with The Sopranos and Vince Gilligan even admitted to being inspired by the dysfunctional mob family dramedy. We’ve started season 2 and it only gets better from here.

🧩Hobby
I’ve been Gundam pilled yet again! The biggest problem an ADHD nerd that loves hobbying has, is finding space. I’m simultaneously painting my Warhammer 40k army, Warhammer Age of Sigmar Army, Warhammer Old War army, and my Trench Crusade warband at the same time. Painting takes more time and effort than building gunpla (Gundam plastic models), so I’ve been building my gunpla backlog to make space in our apartment. In the background I’ve been watching MSG Zeta and it’s been a nice flow and decompress. This has led to me going back to playing Gundam Battle Operation 2, a niche gacha Gundam team shooter that really only is played by a small but mighty community. So I think I have to dedicate this week’s hobby to Gundam in general.

That’s it for this week, so it’s time for some fun announcements. First off, shout out to Sunnyvale for showing up and selling out my show! Truly appreciate you all not only supporting me, but live comedy as well. Y’all were a fun audience and I can’t wait to come back.
